STATE LEADERSHIP CHAPTER

Currently Leslie is serving NMFDW as a Public Relations Committee Chair. Was a charter member of the San Juan County Federation and has worked on membership, fund raising, social media, events planning and attending state meetings and conferences at every opportunity.

Is a past San Juan County State Central Committee delegate where serving on the State Democratic Platform and Resolution committee (two terms) was able to assist the 2014 re-write of the state platform.

Supporting the campaigns for many democratic state candidates has been a major focus with assistance in fundraising and organizing public events in San Juan County. Has had the opportunity to write and submit legislative proposals on health and environmental issues.

While working at the University of Hawaii Matsanaga Peace Institute was chair of the Martin Luther Kings parade in Honolulu Hawaii. At the time was the largest MLK parade in the US. Worked endless hours on the Dennis Kurcinich’s presidential campaign in 2004, when he won the Hawaiian nomination and was a wonderful introduction into national campaigning!

Giving my time, energy and effort to elect effective democratic leadership is the most important use of my talents and I’ve found that the Federation of Democratic Women is the most valuable organization New Mexico has in accomplishing that!!
